Bonnie Ouellet-Mathieu

Illustrator

A graduate of Cambrian College’s Graphic Arts Program, Bonnie Mathieu is a traditional artist working in pencil, coloured pencil, charcoal, crayon, ink, watercolour, and collage. As the writer and illustrator, she created and published the charming children’s books “Irene the Muffin Queen” (2016), and “Willow: A Rescue Tail” (2018) and was commissioned to illustrate “Just a Little Rain” for the American author Denise Pyles’ N.U.N. Publishing (2021).


Bonnie has been a member of the Sudbury Writers’ Guild since 2016, and her short stories and poems have been published in “madcap” Publishing’s: Zombie Digest (2018), Creepy Capreol Jr. (2019) and Merry Capreol (2022).

A self-taught artist since childhood, Bonnie has strong ties to her community in Capreol lending her talent to various local projects including: Poster and Banner Art for Reading Town Sudbury (2018), Colouring Book for Northern Ontario Railway Museum and Heritage Centre (2019); and her free-lance caricatures for special occasions are popular.


Bonnie’s commissioned illustrations and cover artwork are featured in Capreol based “madcap Publishing” books: “Creepy Capreol Jr.” (2016), “Zombie Digest” (2018), “Creepy Capreol Jr: Too Many Zombies” (2019), “Merry Capreol” (2022). She has also done commissioned cover artwork for Lisa Coleman-Brown’s plays: “2 Guys on a Wall”, “Fame & Infamy”, “Myrrh is Mine”, and “The Sandy Triptych”.


In 2023 Bonnie was awarded a Northern Arts Project Grant by the Ontario Art Council to adapt her friend, and fellow Sudbury Writers’ Guild member, Lisa Coleman-Brown’s “The Fartologist” short stories into a Graphic Novel!
